This village on Zante’s northeast coast isn’t as developed as those in the south, but there’s still plenty here, from motorbike rental places to cocktail bars. Alykes is packed with charming touches, such as the old stone bridge over its river – and even a horse and carriage that will ferry you to tavernas.

The family-run Alykes Garden Village has a quiet, countryside setting, between the beach town of Alykes and Katastari village. TripAdvisor reviewers really rate it – it nabbed a Certificate of Excellence this year.

With a backdrop of olive groves and fruit orchards, this place has a really peaceful feel. You’re not cut off, though – Alykes and its sandy beach are a 10 minute walk away, as is the traditional village of Katastari.
